A path forward does exist to address Colorado’s transportation needs, but it will take the work of legislators from both sides.
At a time of economic prosperity for our state, this is one of our biggest challenges – and biggest opportunities.
With a growing population, and booming economic success, Colorado is a destination for businesses, entrepreneurs, a young workforce and families to locate for success. This growth turns an existing problem into a transportation crisis – a failing transportation system throughout the state that has long been neglected and is not ready to meet the challenge of Colorado’s growing demands.
Today, Colorado devotes NO dedicated general fund dollars to our transportation woes – which is one major cause of a transportation system that is failing to keep pace with basic needs and our state’s economic and population growth.
This failure to keep transportation funding in the budget has led to a growing number of business leaders and local government officials from across the state banding together to advocate for reasonable, smart and meaningful budget decisions to improve Colorado’s roads.
